What the service considers

Numbers serve the player

Good electric-guitar service is not a contest to produce the smallest number. String choice, tuning, playing style, and the guitar itself all matter. Measurements help us understand the starting point, make deliberate changes, and leave a repeatable record.

Depending on the guitar and the approved work, the evaluation may consider neck relief, action, string path, bridge condition, pickup balance, intonation, frets, hardware, controls, selector switch, output jack, and requested hardware or pickup changes.

The goal is not somebody else's specification. It is a guitar that works for you, with a record of how it got there.

The mark we never want to make

We do not want to make the ding, scratch, or other mark you have to remember every time you look at your guitar. Instruments are supported properly, work areas are protected, clean microfiber is used generously, vulnerable areas are masked when appropriate, and the correct tool is used for the task.

About Derek

An engineer's habits, applied to guitars

Derek is a retired engineer who spent years measuring machines and parts. He also maintains his own fleet of guitars. Parker Precision Guitars brings those habits together: listen to the player, understand the starting condition, use the right tools, measure what matters, and document the result in plain language.

Pricing and scope

Straightforward pricing

The initial intake, non-invasive diagnostic inspection, and written findings report are free. Approved shop labor is $60 per hour, billed in 15-minute increments. Parts and materials are additional when needed and approved.

The rate is possible because this is a passion project, not our primary source of income. That does not mean rushed or cut-rate work. We accept no more than five instruments at a time. When those spaces are full, we maintain a waiting list rather than crowd the shop or hurry an instrument through the process.

We agree on the work and a spending limit before paid work begins. A newly discovered need that would exceed that approval is discussed before proceeding.

After approved work begins, expected turnaround is about five business days. If parts must be ordered, expected turnaround is about 10 business days after the needed parts are available. If the expected duration changes, we will communicate that to you.

Current scope: electric-guitar setup, repair, and modification to hardware and pickups. Floyd Rose-equipped guitars are not accepted at this time.

School instruments

Donated work for school-owned instruments

Parker Precision Guitars may accept a school-owned electric guitar through an authorized school representative. Accepted work is fully donated: the school is not charged for labor, strings, parts, materials, or related supplier charges.

Normal intake, approval, custody, safety, documentation, and quality checks still apply. This program is for school-owned instruments; student-owned or privately owned instruments are outside the donated-work rule.

Parker Precision Guitars accepts cash and Square card payments. Use the secure Square payment link provided with your invoice when paying online. This website does not collect payment information. Personal checks are not accepted at this time.
